Power Supplies with High Insulation Voltage

Insulation is a very important aspect for high voltage applications. On the one hand isolation has to be functionally adequate to guarantee a long and impeccable service life of an installation, on the other hand isolation has to fulfill security aspects to prevent personal, mechanical or environmental damage.

Usually various auxiliary voltages are necessary for these applications to feed gate-drivers, measurement technology or further electronic equipment. Unfortunately, the reference point of this voltage is often not on ground potential but on a high or even switched voltage. Our high-insulated power supplies are designed for reliable transmission and availability of this auxiliary power.

Being designed for isolation values between 15kV and 50kV (AC, partial discharge free) and output power ratings between 5W and 300W our product range covers a large scope of application.

For integration of our products into already existing installations or into a planned concept we offer competent support and are available for your questions.

Hereinafter we show some potential applications:

An output voltage of 35VDC with a power of 80W is suitable to supply an IGCT gate unit. With a GIS18 / GIS 40 up to four loads can be powered at the same time. To connect between supply and loads we recommend our HSC30 cable.

A current slope system consists of a supply device SW32-24D-10A and multiple DU15 decoupling units. The supply unit includes the first isolation barrier to the current slope. The slope itself is also isolated to the output voltage of the decoupling units. Each of these units can power its own load. Datasheet isolation values are only applicable in combination with HSC30 cable. For further information please look at our Application Note.

Some of our power supplies additionally provide an AC output voltage with a frequency of 70kHz. This can be used to feed one or more transformers for further potential separation.

For loads with less power consumption the smaller units SW15 and SW25 are an appropriate solution.
